Janene Schroder Luke, 57, of New London, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at her home.
Born March 15, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jack Antrum and Esther Margareth Senn Schroder. On September 27, 1986, she married George "Bubba" Luke in Las Vegas. He died July 22, 1990.
Mrs. Luke worked 20 years as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12. She worked as a truck driver for RH Hummer Jr. Trucking Company in Williamsburg. She was a 1970 graduate of New London High School and served three years in the Army Reserves. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.
Survivors include her mother of Mount Pleasant; three sisters, Koral Fuson of New London, Jeri Willingham of Lone Jack, Missouri, and Chris Olsen of New London; one brother, J. Anthony of Yuma, Arizona; special niece and caregiver, J. Anna Birch; nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London where family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. The body has been cremated.
The memorial service for Mrs. Luke will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the "On The Right Track" fund at New London High School.
